Frequently Asked Questions

1. Question:   My website is up and running, what should I do now?
Answer:   The most important is to draw traffic to your website. Advertise your business (including links to your website) at popular websites like: You can also consider using "Pay Per Click" advertisement services like: Posting comments in related forums (including link to your website) will help too.
If you have an "Online store" also consider selling your products on eBay and Amazon. Include links to your website - it will bring more sales and traffic to your business.
2. Question:  I have a WordPress website and I see there are WordPress, themes and plug-ins updates available, should I update?
Answer:  Updating your WordPress and/or plug-ins is always a good idea, as it helps keeping your website safe. Before do the updates please make sure you have a backup copy of your website - you can do one using "All in one Migration" plug-in (usually already installed). Also make sure the new plug-ins versions are compatible with your current WordPress version. Updating your website theme may reset some of its settings, so the theme/website may need some additional adjustments after a theme update.
All updates done by the client, are on his/her own risk!
3. Question:  Do I need a SSL Certificate on my Website?
Answer:  Although the SSL is not mandatory, unless you collect sensitive information (credit card #s, SSN, etc..) directly on your website, it is highly recommended. If your website doesn't have a SSL certificate, it will display a 'Not Secure' in the URL bar and it may have a lower position/rank in the Google searches. And it is not only for Google, visitors also trust the secure sites.
You can get a SSL for your website from your hosting provider. Most hosting companies will provide it for free with your hosting plan, but with other you may need to buy it.
4. Question:  How do I backup my WordPress website?
Answer:  We would recommend using a backing up plug-in like - All-in-One WP Migration (usually already installed). Just export your website to a file, download it and keep it safe offline, in case you need to restore your website later.
5. Question:  My Wordpress website is loading slow, what I can do?
Answer:  First you can contact your hosting provider and see it they have some server performance problems. From your side you can install a "cache" plug-in like W3 Total Cache which should optimize your WordPress performance.
6. Question:  I'm happy with the website you created for me and I received the source files, but I need to make some changes and updates on the site. What should I do?
Answer:  If you website is build in HTML (it's not WordPress or other CMS platform) you will need HTML editor like Dreamweaver, MS FrontPage or similar (free editor - http://www.evrsoft.com/) to edit the website code. Open the web page (the .html file) with the editor and make the changes you want. If you do not have any HTML knowledge, you may edit the file in WYSIWYG mode. Save the updated file and use FTP software like Fillezilla to upload it into your hosting "public_html" folder. Replace the old file with the same file name. Make sure you keep a copy of your original website files we sent you. If something goes wrong, you can always restore the website to it's original state.

7. Question:  How do I upload more photos to my WordPress website?
Answer:  First make sure the photo is the right size. Pictures with resolution bigger then 800x800 pixels are usually too big and will cause your website to load slow and may not display correctly. Use photo editing software like Photoshop to resize the picture to the desired size. Once you have them in appropriate size you can upload them into your WordPress pages (see our tutorials)

For a HTML website – re-size and save the pictures in the same folder as the rest of your website files. Using HTML editor, include them into the pages you want and finally upload the updated pages along with the photos into your hosting "public_html" folder.
8. Question:  How I can protect my website from hackers?
Answer:  Answer: Take your website security very seriously, the hackers are out there. Check your website often and change the passwords for your hosting account, cPanel, Wordpress, etc.. at least every 6 months. Make sure your passwords are strong enough (use combination of numbers, letters and special characters) and they are at least 8 characters long.
Also often check your WordPress dashboard for available WordPress, plug-ins or theme updates.
